For Andy Corley, only adjustability will do.

According to Andy Corley, excellence in the ophthalmology industry can only be achieved by pursuing the best outcomes – even when that means radically changing the established way of doing things.

Given Andy’s distinguished career as the industry’s most widely-known champion of premium lenses, his assessment of everything from outcomes to patient care sets standards and launches strategic plans in companies across the U.S. For more than four decades, Andy’s groundbreaking leadership has helped transform cataract surgery into a life-changing experience for millions of patients.

Andy brings his vast premium lens experience to RxSight and the Light Adjustable Lens. As a member of RxSight’s advisory board, he felt confident choosing the Light Adjustable Lens for his own cataract surgery last year.

“I can’t find a time in my career when the absolute best outcome didn’t win, and right now that’s going to be with an adjustable lens because it’s what’s best for the patient and ultimately, what’s best for the doctor and for our industry. I wanted the best for myself as much as I’ve wanted it for other patients,” says Andy.

Leading up to his surgery, Andy had become adept at managing several pairs of glasses. While they all looked the same, each bow was color coded and meant to help with a specific activity. An avid golfer, Andy had one pair of glasses for looking at the ball on the tee, a second for viewing it in the fairway, and yet another for putting. Working at a desk all day also posed visual challenges he’d overcome by switching glasses – sometimes 4 to 5 times an hour – so he could view his phone, laptop, and large Zoom screens. Not to mention, as a frequent traveler, Andy faced the same challenges on the road.

But the Light Adjustable Lens changed all of that for Andy. “It’s a tremendous relief not to have to think about all those glasses any more. Being able to see everything in your environment at all times is a gift that can’t be overstated. The LAL is truly one of the best decisions you can make for yourself.”

Post-op, Andy could already see 20/15, but the light treatments were able to refine the diopter of the cylinder he had in each eye which, according to him, was a dramatic improvement. Andy’s doctor also worked with him to achieve blended vision that fit his specific eyes. As a hyperope who’d struggled all his life with monovision in contact lenses, Andy was surprised to learn that he could tolerate blended vision with the LAL.

It’s been a year since Andy’s cataract surgery, and today he’s even more confident that the Light Adjustable Lens was the right choice for him. “I chose the Light Adjustable Lens for myself – and have recommended it to family members – because I believe it provides the best outcome and the best quality of vision with the lowest side effects,” Andy explained. “I think anyone who fully examines the facts will have to come to a similar conclusion.”
